Boise, Idaho escort and escort bureau permits

The City of Boise requires any person who intends to work as an escort or run an escort agency or bureau to obtain a permit from the city. An escort is defined by city statutes as any individual who, for hire or reward, spends time with others accompanying them to social affairs, places of entertainment or into private quarters. An escort bureau is defined as any business or organization that furnishes or offers to provide escorts to a third party in exchange for a fee, commission or other profit.

Licensing Office

Fees

  • Escort Bureau License: $220 annually
  • Escort License: $83 annually
  • Fingerprinting: $29.25 once

Length of time to receive licenses

  • 45 – 60 days (due to required background check)

Requirements for escort bureau permit and escort permit applications:

  • Submission to FBI background check based on fingerprints
  • Residential addresses for the past 5 years
  • Employment history for the past 5 years
  • Employment ownership history for the past 5 years
  • Information about any assault, sex offense, burglary, larceny or criminal convictions with the past 5 years
  • Proof of age (must be over the age of 18 years old)
  • Authorization for City of Boise to check application for any falsified statements
  • Photo of applicant(s) — 2inches by 2 inches — must be less than 30 days old (Each partner or corporation officer and manager must provide a recent picture.)

Extra requirements for an Escort Bureau License (in addition to escort permit requirements):

  • Information about denials, revocations or suspensions of any previous business licenses in the past 5 years
  • Articles of incorporation (if bureau is corporation), including the name and address of each director, officer or stockholder (who holds over 10 percent in the company)
  • Partnership names and address, if business is a partnership
  • All anticipated employee names
  • All investor names

Applications may be picked up at the City Clerk's office in City Hall. The office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
